UWC Consortium

(Universal Wireless Communications Consortium) A membership organization created in 1996 and dissolved in 2001 that supported the IS-41 (WIN) information and control system and EDGE enhancements for increased data rates. UWCC completed its goals of developing and promoting TDMA standards in the wireless industry. 3G Americas, its successor trade organization, was founded in January 2002.
