Ulúa

Ulúa (l`ä), river, c.200 mi (320 km) long, rising in the Cordillera de Opalaca, W Honduras, and flowing north to the Caribbean Sea. The Ulúa, with its tributaries, drains almost the entire western half of the country. The valley, once a center of the Chorotega civilization, is one of the most productive in Honduras.

Democracy Bridge, which crosses the Ulua, the country's largest river, collapsed in the town of El Progreso.
The Ulua Mokapu Beach is located in Wailea and it is a must stop for all vacationers, especially those who enjoy the beach.
We enjoyed fishing ulua [jack fish], papio, and 'owama [goatfish], and sometimes we would catch fish that weighed 20 to 45 pounds.
