Rodent studies indicate that prenatal exposure to some phthalates can disrupt normal male reproductive tract development, causing effects such as reduced anogenital (anus-to-penis) distance, undescended testicles, and testicular abnormalities affecting function. These traits also include undescended testicles and a cloaca, a multitasking opening shared by the reproductive and excretory systems. Investigation at that point will invariably reveal that these "girls" are in fact genetically male, that they have undescended testicles, and that neither the uterus nor the ovaries are present. |
