Urbana (ûrbăn`ə). 1 City (1990 pop. 36,344), seat of Champaign co., E central Ill., adjoining Champaign Champaign (shămpān`), city (1990 pop. 63,502), Champaign co., E central Ill.; inc. 1860. 2 City (1990 pop. 11,353), seat of Champaign co., W central Ohio, in a farm and livestock area; inc. 1814. It has hatcheries and plants that make a variety of manufactures. During the War of 1812 the city was an outfitting point for the Great Lakes area. Urbana College is there. Nearby are the Ohio Caverns. |
