(computer science)
A subroutine written by the programmer to calculate and return the value of a mathematical function.

When a table or column is selected for protection, not only the table definition itself is protected but also all the views, triggers (recursively), proxy tables, user defined types, user defined functions, edit procedures, field procedures and other database objects defined on that table.
