Ustyurt

Ustyurt (st'yrt`), desert plateau, c.62,000 sq mi (160,600 sq km), Central Asia, between the Caspian and Aral seas. It rises to between c.490 and 980 ft (150–300 m). It occupies the southern part of Kazakhstan, the northern part of the Karakalpak Republic, and Turkmenistan. Its seminomadic population raises sheep, goats, and camels. The name is sometimes spelled Ust Urt.

an arid plateau in central Asia, between the Caspian and Aral seas in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Area: about 238 000 sq. km (92 000 sq. miles)

LUKoil Overseas in early March 2008 completed the acquisition of control over eight gas fields involved in the PSA of SoyuzNefteGaz Vostok (SNG), a Russian company which operated in the South-Western Gissar and Ustyurt regions, for about $580m.
The country also has oilfields in the Ferghana valley in the north-east, the Ustyurt plateau, and the Aral Sea.
Kazakhstan In Kazakhstan, CanArgo, through its 70% subsidiary BN-Munai LLP is involved with the development of the Kyzyloy gas field, and in an exploration program on the surrounding Akkulkovsky area located in the North Ustyurt basin to the west of the Aral Sea.
