Uvalde (y văl`dē), city (1990 pop. 14,729), seat of Uvalde co., SW Tex., in a farm area; founded c.1854, inc. as a city 1921. It has cattle-feed lots, meatpacking houses, grain-storage facilities, and vegetable processing. Minerals (asphalt, lime, sand, gravel) are also mined in the area.
