An ITU standard (1976) for synchronous 4,800, 7,200 and 9,600 bps full-duplex modems using QAM modulation on four-wire leased lines. It has been adapted for Group 3 fax transmission over dial-up lines at 9,600 and 7,200 bps.


(communications, standard)V.29 - An ITU-T modem protocol which allows 9600 bps half duplex or four wire communications with fall back to 7200 bps and 4800 bps. V.29 is used by fax machines.
