They have from two to seven tape heads that read and inscribe video and audio tracks on magnetic tape. Home movies can be made with a camcorder system, a VCR connected to a simple video camera. The most ubiquitous VCR format is the 1/2" VHS tape, which has been widely used for entertainment and training. One inch videocassettes are used for mastering video recordings, and Sony's 3/4" Umatic videocassettes were widely used in corporate training before VHS tapes became popular.
