VMware Player

A free runtime engine that enables virtual machines created in VMware software to run in a Windows machine. The Player enables users and technicians to test various virtual appliances before deciding on virtualizing their hardware with VMware. See VMware and virtual appliance.


VMware Player in Windows
This example shows the Ubuntu Linux operating system running in VMware Player in a Windows machine. Ubuntu, along with Apache OpenOffice and other Linux applications, is a virtual appliance downloaded from VMware's website.
