VoiceXML
An extension to XML that defines voice segments and enables access to the Internet via telephones and other voice-activated devices. AT&T, IBM, Lucent and Motorola created the Voice XML Forum in 1999 to support this development. In 2000, the Forum became a program administered by the IEEE Industry and Standards Organization (IEEE-ISTO).

Voice and Video
VoiceXML is also used to include video and provide interactive voice and video response (IVVR) systems. For more information, visit www.voicexml.org. See XHTML+Voice and CCXML.

Plum VoiceXML gateway software fully supports VXML 2.
It is based on next-generation Internet industry standards--XML for Web service development and VXML for voice-enabled Web applications--and provides enterprisewide implementation of SIP for advanced IP-based communication.
Available for a list price of only $495 per user, AppDev VXML reduces the time, effort and complexity of building a speech application by reusing the same underlying business logic and data integration implemented for a Web application.
