Van Doren, Irita (b. Bradford) (1891–1966) editor; born in Birmingham, Ala. A leading light in New York literary society, she was literary editor of the New York Herald Tribune (1926–63). Married for a time to Carl Van Doren, she later was a longtime companion to Wendell Willkie.
