Vanichev, Aleksandr Pavlovich
Born July 29 (Aug. 11), 1916, in Kazan. Soviet heat engineer. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1962). In 1938, Vanichev graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. In 1947 he began teaching at the Moscow Physical-Technical Institute. (In 1953 he became a professor there.) His principal works are devoted to studies of energy plants and the development of methods of calculating the processes of heat conduction, combustion, and the flows of reacting gases, taking into account the kinetics of physical and chemical processes. Vanichev was awarded the Lenin Prize (1957), the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and medals. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
