Biringuccio, Vannoccio
Born 1480; died 1539. Italian engineer and scientist. Biringuccio studied mining and metallurgy in Italy, Bohemia, and Austria for many years. His work On Pyrotechnics, devoted to mining, metallurgy, pottery, and other technological problems, was published in Venice in 1540. It was the technical encyclopedia of its time.
