Vedea

a river in Rumania; a left tributary of the Danube. Length, 220 km. Basin area, 7,500 sq km. The Vedea rises in the foothills of the southern Carpathian Mountains; in its upper reaches it flows through hilly places, then it crosses the Lower Danube Plain and flows into the Danube at the city of Giurgiu. The waters are higher in the autumn and spring; in summer the river becomes shallow, turning into a chain of separate pools.
