Vehbi Sünbülzade
Born 1719, in Marash; died Apr. 29, 1809, in Istanbul. Turkish poet. Vehbi Sünbülzade was a teacher, judge, and later, ambassador to Iran (from 1775). His works include qasidas, mathnawi, and the didactic poems Liutfie. His bilingual dictionaries in the form of mathnawi (Persian-Turkic, The Gift, and Arabic-Turkic, Selections) are well known and were long considered model scholarly texts. In his lyrics Vehbi Sünbülzade attempted in particular to simplify the poetic language and bring poetry closer to the people. REFERENCESBanarli, N. S. Resimli türk edebiyati tarihi.
