Vela pulsar [′vē·lə ′pəl‚sär]
(astronomy)
A pulsar with a period of 80 milliseconds, about 1500 light-years (1.4 × 1019meters) away in the constellation Vela, whose variation has been detected at radio, gamma-ray, and optical wavelengths; probably associated with the Vela supernova remnant.
