Vermandois (vĕrmäNdwä`), region, N France, now in Somme and Aisne depts. The region is largely agricultural (wheat, beets) but has some industry (metallurgy, textiles, rubber) located principally at Saint-Quentin Saint-Quentin (săN-käNtăN`), city (1990 pop. 62,085), Aisne dept., N France, on the Somme River. .....
