A joint venture of Apple, AT&T, IBM and Siemens that promoted interoperability between existing and emerging telephony and data communications standards. Launched in 1994, the primary contribution of this group, which later disbanded, was the vCard and vCalendar formats, which were turned over to the Internet Mail Consortium at the end of 1996 (www.imc.org).

IBM, for instance, would like to sell you what they call a ``Business Card'' service where you store your personal data on a card from its newly formed consortium called Versit, which includes Apple, AT&T and Siemens.
Aspect offers simultaneous support for the native application interfaces that are unique to each ACD and a single interface, supporting the open Versit standard, that encompasses the functionality common to all ACDs.
All of the Versit companies (Apple Computer, IBM Corporation, Lucent Technologies, and Siemens) will be joining IMC and working with them to promote the vCard and vCalendar technologies.
