vertebral arch [′vərd·ə·brəl ′ärch] (anatomy) An arch formed by the paired pedicles and laminas of a vertebra; the posterior part of a vertebra which together with the anterior part, the body, encloses the vertebral foramen in which the spinal cord is lodged in vertebrates.
