Vestfjarđa Peninsula
the largest peninsula of Iceland; located at the northwestern end of Iceland. The Vestfjarđa Peninsula is bounded by the waters of the Breiđafjörđur, Húnaflói, and Denmark Strait. It is more than 100 km long and dissected by numerous fjords. It consists mostly of basalt plateaus and low mountains (elevations to 998 m) with glacial cirques and troughs, moraines, and firn fields; the Drangajökull, a glacier with an area of approximately 200 sq km, is located on the peninsula. There is sparse tundra vegetation. The narrow strips of coastal lowland are sparsely populated. There is fishing in the waters around the peninsula. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
