According to Simon, buildings that jump a generation of technology, from old-fashioned video tape recorders and closed-circuit security cameras to new network based systems that rely on hard drives to store camera footage the way a TiVo stores TV shows, are at a distinct advantage by skipping second generation technology such as DVRs.
With a computer chip that makes video tape obsolte, and with the enhanced visual images that only a digital system can provided, TiVo is well on its way to making VHS video recorders as obsolete as their BetaMax predecssors.
I remember viewing a video tape of a kid scoring 24 points from the post position and the kid telling me that he was a 1,000 point scorer, an all-conference player, and that he was interested in getting a chance as a walk-on.
