Viidumae Preserve

Viidumäe Preserve 

located in the western part of Saaremaa Island of the Estonian SSR. Area, 593 hectares (1969). It was created in 1957 to preserve plants and plant groups that are rare in Estonia. The predominant breed is pine. There are forests with lichens, heather, and other plants, forest meadows with oaks, and swamps. Of the rare plants one may find Rhinanthus osilensis, Juncus balticus, Sorbus aria, ivy (Hedera helix), alpine butterwort (Pinguicula alpina), Equisetum tr achy don, and others.
