Tsvetkov, Viktor Nikolaevich
Born Feb. 3 (16), 1910, in St. Petersburg. Soviet physical chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968). Tsvetkov graduated from the A. I. Herzen Leningrad Pedagogical Institute in 1931. In 1934 he began working at Leningrad State University, where he became head of a subdepartment in 1945 and head of a special problems laboratory in 1958. At the same time, he worked at the Institute of Macromolecular Compounds of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, where he became head of a laboratory in 1950. Tsvetkov’s main works deal with the physics of polymers and with liquid crystals. Tsvetkov studied the structure of macromolecules in solutions and the scattering of light by solutions of polymers. Tsvetkov received the State Prize of the USSR in 1952. He has been awarded two orders and various medals. WORKSStruktura makromolekul v rastvorakh. Moscow, 1964. (With V. E. Eskin and S. la.
