Vinaver, Maksim Moiseevich 

Born 1862 or 1863 in Warsaw; died 1926 in Menthon-Saint-Bernard, France. One of the founders of the Constitutional Democrat Party (Cadets) and a member of its central committee; a prominent member of several Jewish bourgeois nationalist organizations.

Vinaver graduated from the University of Warsaw in 1886. He was a lawyer by profession and was a deputy to the First State Duma. After the October Revolution he was an active enemy of Soviet power. In 1919 he was minister of foreign relations in the White Guard “Krai Government” in the Crimea. In 1919 he emigrated to Paris, where he became involved in White emigre publications (the journal Evropeiskaia tribuna [European Tribune] and the newspaper Poslednie novosti).
