Vinius, Andrei Denisovich
Year of birth unknown; died circa 1652. Russian merchant and factory owner. Originally from Holland. In 1627, Vinius began to engage in the grain trade in Arkhangelsk. In 1632 he received a loan from Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich and built cast-iron and iron foundries near Tula. He later built iron foundries in the Shenkursk District on the Vaga River. In 1646, Vinius became a Russian citizen and a member of the Moscow dvorianstvo (nobility or gentry). REFERENCESVil’chinskii, E. “A. D.
