vinyl acetate [′vīn·əl ′as·ə‚tāt]
(organic chemistry)
CH3COOCH:CH2A colorless, water-insoluble, flammable liquid that boils at 73°C; used as a chemical intermediate and in the production of polymers and copolymers (for example, the polyvinyl resins).

Vinyl Acetate

a vinyl ester of acetic acid (CH2=CHOCOCH3), a colorless liquid with a weak lachrymatory effect. Boiling point, 73° C; melting point, -84° C; density at 20° C, 0.934 g/cm3. It has limited solubility in water (2.5 percent) but is readily soluble in organic solvents. It polymerizes and copolymerizes readily with other vinyl compounds. Vinyl acetate is made by vinylation of acetic acid with acetylene in the presence of catalysts:

CH≡CH+HOCOCH3→CH2=CH—OCOCh3

Polymers and copolymers of vinyl acetate are widely used for making glues and lacquers, for impregnation, and for making floor tiles and phonograph records. Polyvinyl acetate, a product of the polymerization of vinyl acetate, is used as a raw material for making polyvinyl alcohol.

FPC) will soon announce verified ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) for solar-cell packaging and put the material into volume production sometime in the fourth quarter.
Used to produce shoes made of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resin, the 2-color shoe molds are subject to extreme high temperature and aggressive environment, placing added demands on materials, including high temperature resistance, high wear and abrasion resistance, easy to clean, easy to remove, easy to recoat, durability and high compressive strength.
business, which produces ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer and low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin, to Celanese EVA Performance Polymers Inc.
