Eleven days after infection, cell lines negative for indicators of viral replication were blind-passaged twice for 7 days by adding 100 [micro]L culture supernatant to the cells in question as well as to the highly susceptible Vero E6 cells. Nonetheless, the overall success of HAART has made HIV/AIDS the "flagship" among viruses and viral disease for antiviral therapy, proving for the first time that if we know sufficient detail of the molecular mechanism of viral replication, then effective antiviral therapy is achievable. |
