Vishera Cellulose and Paper Combine

    0.01 sec.
Vishera Cellulose and Paper Combine

(full name, V. R. Menzhinskii Vishera Cellulose and Paper Combine), a major plant of the paper and pulp industry of the USSR. It includes a pulp mill, paper factory, and a thermal electric power plant. It is located on the Vishera River in the north-western Urals. It manufactures top-grade writing paper, high-quality typographical and cartographical paper, coating base, wrapping paper, sawn goods, wood-fiber boards, and other products. The combine began operation on Oct. 30, 1931.

The rich forest resources of the Vishera River basin provide the combine with spruce and fir timber for the production of cellulose. The timber is transported by flotation, by train, and by motor vehicles. Navigation on the Vishera River makes it possible to bring in materials (chlorinated lime, sulfur, kaolin, and so on) to the combine and to take out finished products along the Kama and Volga rivers. The combine has been retooled. In 1970, paper production had increased by a factor of 1.7 in comparison with 1940. The city of Krasnovishersk has grown up around the Vishera Cellu-lose and Paper Combine.
