The paradox of our oral- visual age is that, as more is made visible to a wide audience, what is kept from view becomes all the more controlled.
Moreover, in this visual age, a face is more compelling than a name on a press release, and none of the above-listed stars were present at last week's press conference.
Ironically enough, half a millennium after the printing press, we, too, find ourselves in an increasingly visual age.
