VoiceXML

An extension to XML that defines voice segments and enables access to the Internet via telephones and other voice-activated devices. AT&T, IBM, Lucent and Motorola created the Voice XML Forum in 1999 to support this development. In 2000, the Forum became a program administered by the IEEE Industry and Standards Organization (IEEE-ISTO).

VoiceXMl is also used to include video and provide interactive voice and video response (IVVR) systems. For more information, visit www.voicexml.org. See XHTML+Voice.
