VoiceView

VoiceView

An earlier generation of modem technology from Radish Communications Systems for simultaneous voice and data (SVD) transmission over the same telephone line. One mode transmitted at V.34 speeds for data only with up to an eight-second delay to change to voice. For small amounts of data, another mode used only 9,600 bps. Between 1990 and 1995, VoiceView shipped with most PC and modem purchases, and its market share was huge. In 1996 Radish was sold, and a year later, its key founders started Roaring Pine (see iConnect). See SVD.
