Von Wiegand, Karl Henry (1874–1961) journalist; born in Hesse, Germany. A once famous foreign correspondent for United Press (1911–17) and the Hearst newspapers (from 1917), he covered a dozen wars and roamed the globe in search of scoops, though his stories often were seen to lack depth.
