Voronovich, Aleksandra Petrovna 

(married name, Kramova). Born July 7 (19), 1898, in the village of Kunino, laroslavl’ Province. Soviet Russian actress. People’s Artist of the USSR (1954).

Voronovich graduated from the theatrical studio of the Sukhodol’skiis Moscow Dramatic Theater in 1918 and was retained in the theater’s troupe. Later she worked in the former Nezlobin Theater, the former Korsh Theater, and from 1933 to 1962 in the Pushkin Russian Drama Theater in Kharkov. Her art is marked by a high degree of drama, profound lyricism, and emotional force. Voronovich created poetic images of Liza Kalitina in A Nest of Gentlefolk, based on Turgenev’s novel, and of Anna Karenina in a stage version of L. N. Tolstoy’s novel of the same name. Among her best roles were Negina in Ostrovskii’s Talents and Admirers, Katiusha Maslova in the stage version of Tolstoy’s novel Resurrection, and Mariia Aleksandrovna Ulianova in Popov’s The Family. Voronovich has been awarded two orders and various medals.
