Vratsa (vrä`tsä), city (1993 pop. 76,947), NW Bulgaria, in the foothills of the Balkan Mts. It is a commercial and crafts center and a railway junction. Vratsa has textile, metal processing, chemical, and ceramics industries. It was an administrative and garrison town under Ottoman Turkish rule (15th–19th cent.). How to thank TFD for its existence?
