(Wireless Transport Layer Security) The security services in the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). WTLS is based on TLS, the landline version that is widely used on the Internet. Published reports indicate that when a WML-based document is transferred from the wireline (IP) to the wireless (WAP) network at the gateway (WAP proxy) server, the data must change encryption schemes--SSL to WTLS (Wireless Transport Layer Security) in this direction and WTLS to SSL in the reverse.
RSA BSAFE SSL-C and RSA BSAFE WTLS (Wireless Transport Level Security) together offer developers a set of fully supported security tools designed to protect wireless applications and provide the critical interoperable bridge between the wireless and wired worlds.
WTLS provides encryption, data integrity (through MACs), and public-key and symmetric-based authentication.
