National World War II Memorial Address: 17th St & Independence Ave NW Washington, DC 20001 Phone: 202-426-6841; Web: www.wwiimemorial.com Size: 7.5 acres. Established: Authorized on May 25, 1993; dedicated on May 29, 2004. Location: On 17th Street, between Constitution and Independence avenues, flanked by the Washington Monument to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west. Activities: The memorial is operated by the National Park Service and is open to visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Special Features: The World War II Memorial honors the 16 million Americans who served during World War II, along with the millions who supported them on the home front.
