Walkowitz, Abraham (c. 1878–1965) graphic artist, painter; born in Tyumen, Russia. He emigrated to New York City (c. 1889), studied at the National Academy of Design (1894, 1898), in Paris (1906–07), and returned to New York. A modernist, he was influenced by the French artists called Fauvists ("wild beasts"). Noted for his ability to use line to convey motion, he did thousands of drawings of Isadora Duncan.
