Walsh, Edward

Walsh, (Edward Augustine) “Big Ed” (1881–1959) baseball pitcher; born in Plains, Pa. During his 14-year career (1904–17), mostly with the Chicago White Sox, he won 40 games in 1908 and 195 games overall. A right-hander who threw a spitball when the pitch was allowed, he was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1946.
