Special Features: The Long Island farmhouse where poet Walt Whitman was born was built by his father around 1819 and is now fully restored. Site houses historic 19th century furniture, including a schoolmaster's desk; the interpretive center at the site includes portraits, original letters, manuscripts, and artifacts.
