Walter, Thomas U. (Ustick) (1804–87) architect; born in Philadelphia. After designing mostly Greek Revival buildings in Philadelphia, he became famous for designing the U.S. Capitol wings and dome (1851–65). He was a founder and president (1876–87) of the American Institute of Architects.
