Ward, Arch (Burdette) (1896–1955) sportswriter; born in Irwin, Ill. As a sportswriter and editor for the Chicago Tribune (1925–51), he created the annual baseball All-Star game as a promotion for the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago. In 1934 he also created the annual college All-Star football game. |
