Warner, John W. (William) (1927– ) U.S. senator, cabinet officer; born in Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Navy (1944–46) and Marines (1949–52). He worked for the department of justice (1954–60). He was undersecretary (1969–72) and then secretary (1972–74) of the navy. He was the administrator of the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration (1974–76) and then a senator from Virginia (Rep., 1979). He was married twice, to Catherine Mellon (1957–1973) and to Elizabeth Taylor (1976; separated in 1981).
