Wedemeyer, Albert C. (Coady) (1897–1989) soldier; born in Omaha, Nebr. He graduated from West Point in 1918 and served with distinction in Tientsin, China (where he studied Mandarin Chinese) (1930–32) and the Philippines (1932–34). He was the first American officer to study at the Kriegsakadamie (German general staff school) since World War I. He was commander of all U.S. forces in the China theater (1944–45). He retired from the army in 1951 and wrote the Wedemeyer Reports (1954). He then worked as a business executive. How to thank TFD for its existence?
