Welwood, John

Welwood, John (1943–  ) psychologist; born in Boston, Mass. A University of Chicago Ph.D., he joined the faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco (1979) while maintaining a private psychotherapy practice. He sought to integrate eastern religious and psychological traditions into western psychotherapy (The Meeting of the Ways, 1979). His later work focused on intimate relationships (Challenge of the Heart, 1985).
