Welwood, John (1943– ) psychologist; born in Boston, Mass. A University of Chicago Ph.D., he joined the faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco (1979) while maintaining a private psychotherapy practice. He sought to integrate eastern religious and psychological traditions into western psychotherapy (The Meeting of the Ways, 1979).
