Special Features:This 40-room mansion was the home of Benning Wentworth, New Hampshire's first royal governor, who served from 1741-1767. The house contains the council chamber where the state's first provincial government conducted its affairs in the pre-Revolutionary War period. The mansion is one of the most outstanding homes still remaining from the colonial era and is designated a National Historic Landmark.
