West, Robert C. (Cooper) (1913–  ) geographer; born in Enid, Okla. He taught at Louisiana State University (1948–80). He specialized in the historical geography of Latin America, cultural geography and ethnography of Latin American blacks and Indians, and the biogeography of the humid tropics. His works include Pacific Lowlands of Colombia (1957) and the first volume of Handbook of Middle American Indians (co-edited, 1964).
