Wetar

Island, Indonesia. Lying 35 mi (56 km) north of East Timor, it is 80 mi (130 km) long, 28 mi (45 km) wide, and has an area of 1,400 sq mi (3,600 sq km). In its interior, rugged mountains covered with tropical rain forests rise to 4,632 ft (1,412 m). Subsistence farming and fishing are the main occupations of the few islanders.

Twenty-five years ago, Julie Barbosa, who now lives in Broadmeadows (a suburb of Melbourne) saw the lights of a Norwegian cargo ship blinking silent passage through the deep waters of the Wetar Straits that lap the north coast of East Timor.
Examples of this type of deposit include Eskay Creek, Canada and Wetar Island, Indonesia near Flores Island.
Kenneth McKechnie who was President Director of Shell's mining operations in Indonesia and managed the exploration and development of the Wetar gold mine in eastern Indonesia.
