Wexler, Jacqueline

Wexler, Jacqueline (b. Grennan) (1926–  ) college president; born in Sterling, Ill. Raised on a farm, she became a Roman Catholic nun and a college administrator. While president of the Roman Catholic Webster College (Mo.) (1965–69), she was released from her vows and turned the governance of the college over to laypeople. She wrote Where I Am Going (1968). She married in 1969 and then served as president of Hunter College (New York City) (1970–79). She was noted for her fund raising skills.
