Wharton Brook State Park Location: 2 miles south of Wallingford on Route 5. Facilities: Picnic shelter (é), bathhouse, food concession, bathrooms. Activities: Fishing, swimming. Special Features: In 1918-1920, this site was known as a traveler's wayside, a forerunner of today's highway rest areas. Located on wooded, sandy knolls, Wharton Brook is still a good spot for a peaceful picnic. It is also a designated Trout Park.
